Flashback: Coach Sellas Tetteh celebrates when Ghana won the FIFA U-20 Cup in 2009

Sellas Tetteh was gracious in defeat after watching his team miss the chance of winning the African Youth Championship title on Saturday to Egypt.

Ghana went down 5-4 on penalties in the final in Oran, Algeria as neither team could break the 1-1 deadlock after 120 minutes of entertaining football.

Sellas, who could made it two title successes in U-20 competition after guiding the Black Satellites to their last trophy in 2009, said the game was a good display for African football.

“It was a good display of football and wonderful advertisement of African football by both sides and l congratulate coach Yassin and his team for victory tonight,” the Ghana coach said.

“My boys played well tonight and did their best but destiny called it otherwise and we have to take it as such.”

Ghana needed the penalty lottery to reach the final but were unlucky this time round as the Young Pharoahs went on to win the game.

“When a match goes to penalties anything is possible and l will not put any blame or find fault with anyone,” the Ghanaian coach said.

“Last time we won the match on penalties to reach the final and today we lost on penalties there is nothing to mourn or complain about, that’s football. There are lots of positives to take from this tournament and we will continue to work hard.”
