Government commended for helping to fix agricultural challenges
Ms Jemima Yakah, an Assistant Lecturer in the Agricultural Extension Department of the University of Ghana, Legon has lauded government efforts in rolling out interventions to address challenges in agricultural production.
She said agriculture is the heart beat of many economies across the world and contributes significantly to the Gross Domestic Product.
Ms Yakah, who is the only female among four Ghanaians, offered scholarships to pursue PhD courses in agribusiness and other programmes in Denmark under the DANIDA Building Stronger Universities Programme this year, made the commendation in an interview with the Ghana News Agency in Tema.
She said women empowerment is very crucial to the development of every nation and that her selection to undertake the courses speaks volumes of her hard working, passion and the desire to promote agriculture to a different level.
Ms Yakah promised to redouble her efforts and study hard to justify the confidence reposed in her to bring glory and honour to Ghanaian women, especially and the African continent at large.
The lecturer advised the youth to take their studies seriously in order to achieve their future ambitions.
Ms Yakah had her basic education at the Tema SOS Kindergarten through to the SOS Hermann Gmeiner International College and successfully passed the International General Certificate of Secondary Education.
Nii Amaa Akita, Vice Principal at Tema SOS College, said he is proud that a product of the institution had lived up to the motto of the school, “Knowledge in the Service of Africa”.
