Appointments Committee resumes vetting February 7

ParliamentThe Appointments Committee of Parliament will resume public hearing of ministerial nominees on Thursday, February 7.

The Committee would sit for five days with five nominees appearing each day, a public notice has said. There will be two sessions this week and three next week.

Dr Benjamin Kunbuor (Government Business in Parliament), Mr Haruna Iddrisu (Trade and Industry), Mrs Marietta Brew Appiah-Opong (Justice and Attorney-General) and Mrs Dzifa Attivor (Transport) would appear on February 7.

Ms Fanny Sherry Ayittey (Health), Mr Elvis Afriyie-Ankrah (Youth and Sports), Dr Henry Siedu Daannaa (Chieftaincy and Traditional Affairs), Mr Kwesi Ahwoi (Interior) and Mr Mark Woyongo (Defence) are scheduled to appear on February 8.

The Committee has scheduled Nii Armah Ashietey (Employment and Labour Relations), Mrs Elizabeth Ofosu-Agyare (Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts), Mr Nyon Bilijo (Fisheries and Aquaculture Development) and Mr Paul Evans Aidoo (Western Region) to appear on February 11.

Mr Samuel Sarpong (Ashanti Region), Mr E.K.T. Addo (Central Region), Mr Bede Ziedeng (Upper West Region), Nii Laryea Afotey Agbo (Greater Accra Region) and Mr Alhassan Azong (Presidency) would be heard on February 13.

Five to serve at the presidency would be heard on February 14.

They are Dr Mustapha Ahmed, Mr Abdul Rashid Hassan Pelpuo, Mr Fifi Kwetey, Alhaji Lumina Mohammed Muniru and Mrs Comfort Doyoe Cudjoe Ghansah.

Parliament has already vetted and approved two sets of nominees.
