Chinese leader Hu Jintao is expected to send a presidential envoy to attend President John Dramani Mahama’s inauguration ceremony on January 7, 2013.

Mahama was declared President-elect by the Electoral Commission after winning Ghana’s 2012 presidential polls held December 7, 2012.

The Chinese government has therefore named its Minister of Water Resources, Chen Lei as its special envoy and will travel to Accra to attend the ceremony, the Xinhua News Agency reported.

At least 11 Heads of State including South Africa’s Jacob Zuma and Nigeria’s Goodluck Jonathan have all confirmed their attendance to the event.
