Government to put 34 communities in Techiman on national grid

Thirty-Four communities in the Techiman Municipality have been listed by the Government to benefit from Self-Help Electrification Programme Four under the Rural Electrification Programme.

Mr Alex Kofi Kyeremeh, Techiman Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) who made this known to the Ghana News Agency in an interview at Techiman on Monday said Work had started in 17 of the beneficiary communities whilst the additional 17 communities would soon begin.

The communities include Konkrompe, Gyaukrom, Adieso, Nsonkonee, Mpehia, Asutia, Anomatoa, Dentekrom, Boankrom, Abrika, Akissimasu, Akrufi, Unaaskrom, Aworopataa, Asantanso, Nsuta Sereso, Abanaba, Tano Anaafo, Koofiekrom and Ataboaso 1 and 2.

Mr Kyeremeh noted that the provision of electricity to the communities would help to improve the living standard of the people.

The MCE said the Assembly had procured about 150 electric poles at the cost of GHȼ150,000 to be distributed to the communities.

He said work on the Techiman streetlights on the Techiman-Kumasi highway and that of Sunyani-Nkoranza Road had been awarded on contract.
