FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup: Ghana coach fumes over unpaid salaries

Coach of Ghana’s Black Princesses, Robert Sackey is livid with his unpaid salaries by the Ghana Football Association (GFA) insisting the act is de-motivational to his efforts.

Coach Sackey has not been paid his wages for the past 10 months and the United States-based trainer is quizzing how officialdom expects him to survive with a family to look after.

“I have got a family to take care of. How am I supposed to survive and have peace of mind to work? How will you feel if at where you work you do not get paid for this long?”, he quizzed.

Sackey contracted by the GFA last year on a full time basis is supposed to be on a $3000 monthly salary.

He described the situation as frustrating, insisting it has found a way to demotivate him from achieving his aim of grooming and supporting the girls to put their best and achieve the needed success.

“This is a very bad practice and I do not know how anybody can expect positive results with this attitude.”

Information pieced together by the GNA Sports indicates that Coach Sackey is one of the local Coaches yet to receive their salaries in as many months.

The Coach who is leading the Princesses as they make a second appearance at the FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup has seen his side whipped badly after losing 0-4 to the US in their Group D opener and a further 0-1 to Germany to effectively crush out of the biennial global gathering.

This is the first time Coach Sackey is coaching in Ghana on a full time bases having served as a spy for Ghana when the Black Stars made a maiden appearance at the FIFA World Cup in Germany in 2006.
