UK introduces priority service for visa applicants in Ghana

Peter Jones – British High Commissioner to Ghana

The UK Border Agency (UKBA) has introduced a priority visa service in Ghana, the agency announced last week on its website.

The UKBA says the priority visa service is available to UK visa applicants who pay an additional fee to have their visa application placed at the front of the queue.

The cost of service is said to be GH¢207 per applicant and will only be available to applicants who apply in the Ghanaian capital, Accra.

One can apply for the priority visa service if he or she meets the following criteria:
·    British Council ‘sponsored’ applicants.
·    Ex Business Select Programme companies.
·    Third Country Nationals who have previously traveled to either the UK, US, Canada, Australia or New Zealand.
·    Ghanaian/Ivorian/Togo/Burkina Faso nationals who have previously traveled to either the UK, US, Canada, Australia or New Zealand in the last 5 years.
·    No previous visa refusals or adverse immigration history.

The priority service does not imply or guarantee in any way that UK visa applicants using it will be successful in their visa application, the agency indicated.

“The amount paid for the priority service, as well as the visa application fee, is not refundable if the visa application is refused,” the UKBA said.
