Ghanaian lawmakers on Wednesday August 1, 2012 okayed a credit facility of $13.9 million for the country’s military.

The loan is supposed to help the military to procure vehicles and communication equipment in order to carry out their duties related to the 2012 elections

The credit agreement is between the Ghana government and the CAL Bank Ghana Limited.

Apart from the $13.9 million, the medium term loan facility, also includes another €3.4 million facility.

Chairman of the Parliamentary Finance Committee, James Klutse Avedzi, moved the motion for the approval, a news publication by state-run Information Services Department (ISD) said on the government’s official website.

The basic military standard include four wheel drive, protective guard in front, communication facility and re-configuring of single Cabin Pick-Ups for the purpose of lifting, the ISD reported citing Mr Klutse Avedzi.
