Ericsson, Western Union in alliance to fast track mobile financial services

Ericsson and Western Union have announced a strategic alliance on how to make mobile financial services quicker and convenient.

Both announced the partnership at the ongoing Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, Spain February 27, 2012.

The agreement, according to a statement from Ericsson is designed to accelerate the interconnection between the m-commerce eco-system and the existing financial world.

“First step is an integration of Western Union’s Mobile Money Transfer Network and Ericsson suite of M-Commerce solutions to support mobile network operators further accelerate their launch of mobile financial services,” the statement read.

Ericsson and Western Union said they will jointly explore strategic collaborations to further simplify the establishment of mobile financial services by mobile network operators.
