Man in court for defiling 13-year-old

Prosper Kofi Dekutsie alias Gayoyo, a 23-year-old man who allegedly kidnapped and defiled a 13-year-old girl for three days in his room, on Friday appeared before an Accra Circuit Court.

Dekutsie pleaded not guilty to defilement before the court presided over by Miss Sedinam Agbemava and said the victim was his girlfriend.

He was remanded into prison custody to re-appear on March 20.

Police Chief Inspector I.A.A. Ahor said the complainant who is a sister of the victim lives with her at Korle-Bu as well as the accused.

He said the accused and the victim were in a secret relationship for the past eight months and continued to defile her.

The prosecutor said on February 17, 2012 the victim left home during the day but failed to return.

Chief Inspector Ahor said one Christiana, a sister of the victim met the victim in the company of the accused on the third day after she (victim) had left home.

He said the accused was confronted but told Christiana that the victim was his girlfriend and had spent the past three days with him.

Chief Inspector Ahor said a report was made at the Korle-Bu Police station and the victim was issued with a medical form to attend hospital for examination.

He said the accused was arrested and later transferred to Dansoman DOVVSU.
