2012 Afcon: We have no excuse against Zambia – Muntari

Sulley Muntari

Ghana Black Stars walk into a semi final game against Zambia at the Bata Stadium in Equatorial Guinea on Wednesday, inferior to their opponents  in terms of rest, but midfielder Sulley Muntari says they will make no excuses.

Ghana has had to endure a torrid time for the last 48 hours after qualifying to the last four in 120 minutes against a disciplined Tunisian side before traveling from Gabon to Equatorial Guinea for Wednesday’s encounter.

Muntari told GNA Sports in Bata that “yes, we are very tired because our game against Tunisia went into extra time and we had to travel but we have no excuses”.

“Zambia is a very good team and we respect them. We know it is not going to be easy but we are willing to go all the way because this is a very important game for us.”

Touching on the quality of the Ghana team, he said “it is a good blend that we have here. Some of the players have been together for at least a  year or two now and it is a very mature team now.

“We know that all team’s that meet come in very strong so we have prepared our minds for a very tough game, which we want to win to go a step up.” He reasoned.

Ghana will meet Zambia at the Bata Stadium on Wednesday in a game that determines who qualifies for the final.

While Ghana is chasing a fifth Nations Cup glory after  a three decade of wait,  Zambia is chasing her first.
