Accidents reduce in Ajumako-Enyam-Essiam

The number of accidents cases in the Ajumako-Enyan-Essiam District reduced from 36 in 2010 to 25 in 2011, the District Police Commander, Deputy Superintendent of Police Seth Tay, has said.

He told the GNA that three people died in the accidents in 2010 as against five in 2011 and the number of vehicles involved in the accidents reduced from 48 in 2010 to 31 in 2011, adding that 20 people were injured in 2010 as against 40 in 2011.

The number of people injured reduced from 30 in 2010 to 8 in 2011.

Mr Tay attributed the courses of the accidents to inconsiderate driving, over speeding and failure to observe road signs and motor traffic regulation on the part of some drivers and said the reduction in accidents was as a result of regular police checks and education programmes for drivers.

He said the number of assault cases reported to the command increased from 36 in 2010 to 63 in 2011 while stealing cases increased slightly from 31 in 2010 to 32 in 2011.

He said murder case also reduced slightly from 4 in 2010 to 3 in 2011, adding that defilement cases record also reduced from 5 in 2010 against 4 in 2011.
