Atwima Nponua builds Fire Station

The Atwima-Mponua District has completed a GH¢104,000.00 fire station for the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) at Nyinahin.

It has radio and crew rooms, a conference hall, offices and garage and it was financed through the District Development Fund (DDF).

Madam Theresa Adomako Tawiah, the District Chief Executive (DCE), announced this  when she inspected the project with the acting Chief Fire Officer, Brigadier John Bosco Ewiram Guyiri.

He was there as part of his three-day tour to acquaint himself with the operational challenges faced by personnel of the service.

Madam Tawiah expressed worry about the reported the high incidence of fire outbreaks in the area and the attendant destruction to property.

She said because of the lack of a fire station they have had to depend on firefighters at Nkawie and Bibiani during emergencies.

This, she said, was not the best and also problematic given the long distances these GNFS personnel have to travel to reach the district.

She, therefore, appealed to the acting Chief Fire Officer to as a matter of urgency ensure that a fire station was opened for them.

Brigadier Guyiri commended the effort and initiative of the Assembly and promised to give every necessary attention to the request.
