Floods compel doctors to suspend strike

The Ghana Medical Association (GMA) today October 26, 2011 has suspended its nationwide strike.

In a statement issued in Accra, the GMA said they have suspended their strike action after holding an emergency meeting.

Dr. Frank Serebuor, Assistant General Secretary of GMA who confirmed this on Asempa FM, explained that the health related issues that comes with yesterday’s floods which hit the capital is a factor for the decision.

He said due to the effect of the floods, their services will be needed urgently and to attend to victims who will suffer from illness such diarrhea, malaria among others.

He disclosed that they met with President Mills a during the weekend.
