Medal winners at All Africa Games receives $235,000 as bonuses

Medal winners of Team Ghana at the just ended All Africa Games (AAG) had received their respective bonuses totaling $235, 000 dollars from the National Sports Authority (NSA).

Information gathered by GNA Sports indicates that, the medal winners received their bonuses late last week, after they presented their awards to the Vice President John D. Mahama at the Castle, Osu, Accra.

According to the information, gold medal winners received $5,000 each, with winners of silver medals taking home $2500 whilst bronze winners pocketed 1500 dollars.

‘Golden Girl’ Ajara Mohammed thus took home $10,000 for winning gold medals in the 400 and1500 meters race in the Paralympics, as well as Margaret Simpson who won gold in the female Heptathlon, with the Black Meteors completing Ghana’s gold medal haul in the AAG, in the men’s football.

Each member of the female football team, the men’s and women’s relay teams also received 2,500 dollars for winning silver as well Patrick Yaw who also won a silver medal in the 1500 Paralympics.

Felix Acheampong and Anita Fodjour who won bronze medals in the male and female 1500 meters events in the Paralympics and the pair of Samuel Nyarko Mensah and Daniel Sam who won bronze in the Men’s in Badminton Doubles received $1500 each.

Beach Volleyball pair of Edward Seidu-Ajanako and Evans Lomotey Tagoe, Amateur boxers, Maxwell Amponsah and David Bawa, Fatao Alhassan – Tae Kwondo, as well as each member of the male and female hockey teams were also given 1500 dollars for their bronze medal feat at the Games.
