34-year old woman arrested for possessing Indian hemp
A 34-year old woman, Yvonne Kpodo has been arrested by the Nsawam Prison Authority for possessing quantity of dried leaves suspected to be Indian hemp.
She has since been handed-over to the Nsawam Police.
Speaking with the Ghana News Agency (GNA) on Wednesday, the Municipal Police Commander, Superintendent Samuel Buabeng said Kpodo at 1140 hours on the said day, visited her husband Badu Frimpong who is serving a 12-year jail on narcotic offence at the Nsawam prison.
The Police Commander said, during inspection at the main entrance, some leaves were found in some of the items to be given to the husband.
He said the suspect would be arraigned at the Nsawam circuit court.
The Commander said the suspected leaves would be sent to the Narcotic Control Board for examination.
