Zimbabwe stock exchange website under threat from hackers

The Zimbabwean Stock Exchange website has been under threat from computer hackers.

The CNN reports that the hackers used the site as phishing site for the second time. Phishing is a form of Internet fraud that targets personal information such as credit cards and user IDs.

But officials say they have sought an expert to solve the issue.

“We hope the IT experts will get to the bottom of the problem and identify the source…The website is a popular source of information and I am sure we have lost a lot of potential investors since we took it offline,” Mr. Emmanuel Munyukwi, Chief Executive of the stock exchange with 79 listed companies told CNN on Friday August 5, 2011.

Zimbabwean state-owned daily newspaper, The Herald and the website of the country’s finance ministry have all become targets of these computer hackers.
