Farmers Association predicts food insecurity

Cassava - a staple food in Ghana

The Executives of the Sissala Farmers Association have called for stringent measures to prevent food insecurity in the Sissala East District of the Upper West Region.

They complained about the alarming rate at which foodstuff was being carted out of the area in search for better prices in the South although the lean season was approaching.

A statement issued by Mr Kasim Sulemani, Chairman of the Association on Monday at Tumu called on stakeholders to throw their weight behind the members to bring the situation under control.

The statement acknowledged the interventions of the government and non-governmental organisations towards food security and called on farmers to maximise the support to sustain the process.
