Medical Doctor deplores poor attitude of colleagues towards pregnant women

The Medical Superintendent of Dangme West District Hospital, Dr Kennedy T. Brightson has deplored the lukewarm attitude of some health professionals, which he said resulted in maternal morbidity.

He has therefore urged medical personnel to live up to expectation to facilitate the achievement of the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) by 2015.

Dr Brightson was addressing a day’s scientific workshop for about 50 medical personnel in the Dangme West District at Dodowa in the Greater Accra Region.

The monthly clinical presentation forms part of a continuous medical education for health personnel in ensuring zero tolerance for maternal deaths in the District.

Dr Brightson said some expectant women die in Africa as a result of delay in receiving them at health facilities, lack of co-operation among medical practitioners and bad temperaments exhibited at workplaces.

He urged medical practitioners to remain committed, selfless and passionate about the services they render to pregnant women in order to save lives.
