Unionist calls for good work culture

Mr Pius Kweku Quainoo, the General Secretary of the Construction and Building Materials Worker’s Union of the Trades Union Congress (TUC), has called on government and managements to develop work culture devoid of bad labour practices.

He said some employers especially in the construction industry did not apply themselves to good labour practice and flouted labour laws.

Mr Quainoo told the GNA in an Easter message that some employers forced their workers to work on Sundays and on public holidays.

He said there are still arbitrary dismissals, unilateral decisions and refusal to implement agreed collective bargaining decisions.

Mr Quainoo said Easter is a period of sober reflection for that matter managements should refrain from tendencies that would dent their image.

He also appealed to workers to eschewed tendencies that give course to management to complain and indulge in conduct not conducive to good labour practices.
