Parliament to adjourn ‘sine die’ on March 30, 2011

Parliament is expected to adjourn ‘sine die’ on March 30 instead of March 25 2011 in order to deal with the  rest of the agenda on government business, Mr Cletus Avoka, Majority Leader, said on Friday in Parliament.

Reading the business statement of the week to the House, he said sittings of the House would also be extended beyond the prescribed period when necessary during the week.

Mr Avoka said the House would also sit on Mondays because the Clerks at the Table, whose services are required during proceedings of the House, will host the conference of the society of clerks at the Table from April 1, 2011.

Members adopted the statement and continued with proceedings which included six questions to be answered by the Minister of Food and Agriculture and an urgent question meant for the  Minister of Roads and Highways.

Alhaji Ibrahim Gombilla, the Deputy Clerk to Parliament, told the GNA that the upcoming conference of Society of Clerks will be attended by Clerks from commonwealth countries comprising both clerks and senior clerks.
