Ten Electoral areas in Tema Metropolis to vote on Friday

Eleven out of the 50 electoral areas, in the Tema Metropolis, would have their Elections on Friday, December 31, because the ballot papers are not ready.

Despite the postponement of the elections twice by the Electoral Commission, the ballot papers for those electoral areas had still not been delivered as at Thursday afternoon.

Mr Gabriel Manu, Tema District Electoral Officer, who disclosed this in an interview with the Ghana News Agency, on Thursday, named the 11 Electoral Areas as Low Cost in the Tema East Constituency, Klagoon, Wolei, and Sakumono Electoral Areas in the Tema West Constituency.

Mr Manu said the others, which are all in the Kpone-Katamanso Constituency, include Akansa, Gbetsiley, Akweitsegon, Mlitskpo, Bethlehem, Afiye, and Tenkwai Electoral Areas.

The Electoral Officer explained that voting in the 11 electoral areas had to be postponed to Friday, due to the inability of the printers to print all the ballot papers.

He said even though the District Assembly and the Unit Committee Elections were being held simultaneously, in some areas only the ballots for the Assembly Elections were ready, and vice versa.

He called on the electorate in those electoral areas to exercise restraint, as everything possible was being done to ensure a smooth election on Friday.
