Chief Justice directs courts to sit on December 24 on electoral petition

The Chief Justice, Mrs Justice Georgina Wood, has authorised the Supreme Court to sit on Friday, December 24, on an election petition on the December 28 District Level elections.

A statement signed by Mrs Grace Tagoe, Director of Communications for the Judicial Secretary, said the petitioners were Stephen Nii Bortey Okane, Sheriff Borteh Borquaye, Anum Kattah, Eric Tawiah, Edward Borketey and Alfred Mensah Tawiah.

The suit is against Joseph Yieleh Chireh, Minister of Local Government and Rural Development, the Electoral Commission and the Attorney-General.

The statement said in the same vein, the Chief Justice had authorized Mr Justice Clemence J. Honyenuga, an Appeal Court Judge, to sit as an additional High Court Judge, to deal with the suit filed by Lead Advertising Ghana Limited against the Accra Metropolitan Assembly and Via Affrinity.

The case would be heard during the Christmas vacation from December 24 until otherwise directed, it said.
