Durbar on Constitution Review held at Ntiribuoho

A consultative meeting to collate views on the 1992 Constitution of Ghana has been held at Ntiribuoho in the Afigya-Kwabre district.

The meeting which was organized by the District Office of the National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE) was held in collaboration with the Constitutional Review Commission.

In attendance were chiefs, members of the unit committee, assembly members, teachers, religious and youth groups.

Mr Eric Nyarko, a resource person of the Commission, said the aim of the review was to “help clear” any ambiguity and make the necessary amendment for the constitution to meet the hopes and aspirations of the people.

He said the review was to create an open and receptive avenue for people to participate and debate on all issues that affect their lives and livelihoods.

The exercise, he added, was also to ensure that the frame work guiding the executive power did not become ineffective.

Mr Herbert Kyeremateng-Boateng, Assistant Civic Education Officer of the District, said the government was committed to bridging the gab between the rural and the urban centres and urged the people to become aware of their civic responsibilities.

Mr Sampson Adu-Poku, former Assembly Member of the Area, appealed to the government to help in funding the NCCE for it to function effectively.
