MTN Ghana wins six awards in one week

Ghana’s leading telecommunications company, MTN has won six awards in the past week.

The company won awards at the 21st Chartered Institute of Marketing Ghana (CIMG) and the 9th Ghana Club 100 awards ceremonies in Accra.

According to a media release from MTN which was copied to ghanabusinessnews.com, MTN won awards in the following categories: Best Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Company of the Year 2009; Best Information Communication Technology (ICT) Company of the Year 2009; CIMG Marketing-Oriented Company of the Year 2009; Print Advert of the Year 2009; Radio advert of the Year 2009; The 8th out of the top 100 Ghanaian Companies for the Year 2009.

The release indicated that this is the first time that the Award for the Best CSR Company is being won by a telecommunications company since the category was first introduced in 2008.

“It is also our second time in a row winning the award for Best ICT Company of the year,” it added.

Commenting, Mawuena Trebarh, Corporate Services Executive of MTN said “We could not have distinguished ourselves without the outstanding guidance we enjoyed from the Executive Management Team and the tremendous support of our employees.  We take this opportunity to congratulate all staff especially those who have contributed through employee volunteerism and who served our communities through our CSR projects, developed and executed fantastic ideas in the area of ICT and marketing, coupled with a strong commitment to deliver value to our subscribers”.

“We also thank our customers for giving us the opportunity to serve them”, she added.

MTN currently has about 8.7 million subscribers, making it the biggest telecommunications provider in Ghana.
