Ghanaian heads International Cocoa Council

A Ghanaian has been elected to chair the International Cocoa Council. Mr. Anthony Fofie, the Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Cocoa Board (COCOBOD) was elected to the position at the 82nd regular session of the Council in London last week.

According to a press release from the COCOBOD, issued Thursday September 23, 2010 and copied to ghanabusinessnews.com, he will serve as Chairman of the International Cocoa organization’s (ICCO) Executive Committee for the 2009/10 cocoa year.

The International Cocoa Council is the highest decision-making body of the organization and is composed of all contracting parties to the International Cocoa Agreement.
