365 households share over GH¢13,000 under LEAP

365 households in 13 communities in the Kwahu West Municipality have received 13,210 Ghana Cedis as stipends for the first quarter of this year under the Livelihood Empowerment Against Poverty (LEAP) Programme.

The money had been distributed to caregivers of orphans, vulnerable children, caregivers of people with disability and the aged above 65 years.

The Kwahu West Municipal Social Welfare Officer, Mr. Andrew Owusu-Mensah disclosed this to the Ghana News Agency in an interview at Nkawkaw on Monday.

He said 550 households have been selected to benefit under the programme by the end of the year and advised the beneficiaries to abide by the conditions attached to the programme.

Such conditions include ensuring that all vulnerable children attend school and also to ensure that all children delivered by disabled parents are registered at the birth and death registry and under the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS).

Mr. Owusu-Mensah urged the beneficiaries to use the fund to undertake petty trading and other income generating activity to improve their living standards.
