Ellembelle spends GH¢8,307.30 on scholarship for 52 students

The Ellembelle District Assembly has spent GH¢8,3O7.30 on scholarships for 52 students studying in second cycle and tertiary institutions in the country since 2009.

This forms part of measures to strengthen education in a bid to speed up development of the area.

The District Chief Executive (DCE), Mr Daniel .K. Eshun announced this at the first ordinary session of the fifth General Assembly at Nkroful in the Western Region on Friday.

He said the Assembly would leave no stone un-turn to ensure good quality education delivery by equipping educational institutions with basic logistics for effective teaching and learning.

Mr Eshun said the Assembly had received a total of 1,112 pre-cut and 1,010 sown free school uniforms for public schools in the area.

The Presiding Member of the Assembly, Mr Dominic Nyanzu reminded parents of their responsibility to send children to school since education is the bedrock of personal and national development.

He urged the educational directorate in the area to involve stakeholders and all who matter in the development of the sector.
