Stephen Ntim launches NPP Chairmanship bid
Mr Stephen Ntim, a former First National Vice Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), on Wednesday said factionalism was a serious threat to the unity of the party.
“I am therefore going to dedicate myself to the effort at unifying the party…am in a position to play this very crucial role,” Mr Ntim said when he launched his campaign to contest for the National Chairmanship of the party slated for 2014.
He pledged to use his depth of political and social networking as well as diplomatic skills to unify all perceived and real factions in the party
Mr Ntim said the continued existence and festering of factionalism would pose a serious threat to the party’s ability to win executive power in 2016 and added “I will not relent in my effort at addressing this problem”.
Mr Ntim presented his chairmanship bid manifesto as focusing on political experience, resilience and tenacity of purpose, personal donations to the party, consensus building methods, the issue of independent candidates and party financing.
Other areas are research and communication, external branches, members of parliament, women, youth and NASARA branches, technology and the swing regions.
Mr Ntim said the emergence of independent candidates played destructive role in the party’s role to annex executive power and that would be dealt with when elected.
He said he would ensure standardisation in the dissemination of information, beef up research work and to explore alternative means of sourcing funds.
Mr Ntim who tagged Brong-Ahafo Region as the swing region and battle ground for Election 2016 and tasked the NPP to work around the clock to win the Presidential Election in the Region.
“If we want to win Brong-Ahafo Region then we have to set our priorities right by adopting a holistic precision-targeting and not scatter-bombing strategies and tactics,” he said.
“Am a native of this region and my elevation to the position of National Chairman, in addition to other strategic ways and means that I am bringing to the table, will address this problem and propel the party to power without introducing any ethnic undertones into our internal political contest”.
Mr Ntim said women, youth and the NASARA club of the party under his leadership would be strategically strengthened and empowered to operate to their full potential in order to win more seats and votes.
“The majority of voters in our general elections fall under women, the youth and Muslim groups, hence the need to invest in these wings to reach out…special programmes and projects will be initiated for them to implement,” he said
Mr Ntim said he attempted to contest for the position three times but each time was impressed upon to wait till the right time and that this was the time.
Mr Ntim therefore called on the NPP delegates to the National Delegates Congress next year to vote massively for him to execute his agenda for the party.
