District Assembly signs GH¢2.5m credit agreement with HFC Bank

The Nkwanta North District Assembly (NNDA) is to sign a GH¢2.5 million credit agreement with the Home Finance Company (HFC) Bank Limited to speed up the construction of staff bungalows in its new district.

The Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development and the Administrator of the District Assembly Common Fund are guarantors of the credit facility.

The Assembly last Friday unanimously approved the initiative at its second general meeting, which also endorsed the Regional Tender Board Committee’s move to terminate a GH¢50,000 office annex project awarded to Messrs Omster Limited of Ho for non-performance.

The Assembly committed GH¢15,000 to facilitate work on the project, which was originally scheduled to be completed in October, 2008 but work had remained at the foundation level.

The Assembly also approved a sponsorship of 10 teacher trainees and five trainee nurses as its support to improve quality of teaching, learning and healthcare delivery in the District.

Mr Jakayi K. Jackson, Presiding Member appealed to members of the Assembly to remain committed to its course to give meaning to the decentralization process and bring development to people.
