Ghana Medical Association urges employers, workers to improve economy

The President of the Ghana Medical Association (GMA), Dr Kwabena Opoku Adusei has called on workers and medical doctors to work harder to improve on the economy and the health needs of Ghanaians.

A statement issued and copied to the GNA said “On the occasion of the workers holiday, May 1, 2012, the GMA President urges all the leadership and the various Unions to dialogue and negotiate with Government and its agencies to improve the lot of the Ghanaian worker”

It also reminded Government and employers that “All work and poor pay makes the worker discontented and disillusioned” and noted that the Ghanaian worker must be remunerated better than before, for the Good Book says “we must eat from our labour”.

The GMA president called on the National Labour Commission (NLC) to be fair in its dealings with both workers and employers so as to save the Labour Laws of the country.

According to the statement the Fair Wages and Salaries Commission must strive to live to its accolade of “Fairness” to minimize the tension on the labour front, adding that, the Controller and Accountant General’s Department must to remove ambiguity in salaries administration in the country if it means acquiring the needed modern software to enhance its work.

“I congratulate all our hard working workers, doctors and other health workers, Ayikoo!” it added.
