DCE advises LESDEP beneficiaries to avoid lavish lifestyles

Mr Enoch Kojo Appiah, Shama District Chief Executive (DCE) has advised beneficiaries of the Local Enterprise and Skills Development Programme (LESDEP) not to use government’s free sponsorship of their skill training on lavish lifestyles.

Mr Appiah said the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) is spending so much money to empower the unemployed youth as part of efforts to improve on their socio-economic livelihood and must therefore attach importance to the programme.

The DCE gave the advice during the presentation of sewing machines and certificates to 25 young ladies in the District, who have graduated after six months training in dressmaking at Shama.

The training was organised by the National Youth Employment Programme (NYEP).

Mr Appiah admonished the beneficiaries to guard against laziness and other negative tendencies and work hard to make it in life.

He called on the LESDEP beneficiaries to exhibit honesty and truthfulness to their customers in order to win their confidence.

Mr Gabriel Essielfie, Member of Parliament for Shama urged the beneficiaries to form partnerships to enable them obtain loans from the banks.

Mr Godfred Ametepey, official of the NYEP said another batch of trainees is in the offing to benefit from the programme.
