Twifo Hemang-Lower-Denkyira CLOGSAG to institute loans/saving scheme
The Twifo-Hemang-Lower-Denkyira branch of the Civil and Local Government Association (CLOGSAG) are to institute a savings and loans scheme to cater for the needs of its members.
To this end, a seven member interim committee has been appointed to work out modalities for the scheme to take off.
The decision was taken at an end of year meeting of the Association held on Wednesday at Twifo Praso.
Mr Joseph Indoom, chairman of the association in his welcoming address commended the National Executive of (CLOSAG) for working tirelessly for members to enjoy the single spine salary structure (SSSS).
Mr Indoom however regretted that some members had not yet been hooked to the scheme while others were still receiving their old salary.
Mr Indoom called for the restoration of payment of medical bills since the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) did not cover all drugs prescribed by medical doctors.
He also appealed to the association to assist members to purchase lands on credit bases to enable them to put up their own houses before they went on retirement.
Mr. Jacob Appiah Sarpong, national treasurer of CLOGSAG appealed to members to be loyal to the government, adding “as we enter the election year, members should not dabble in politics”.
He also asked them not to identify themselves with or wear any political party emblem to tarnish the image of the association.
The District Chief Executive of THLD, Mr Joseph Foster Andoh announced that government had directed that civil servants should be paid three months Single Spine salary diiference out of the outstanding arrears in December 2011.
Mr Andoh said the government machinery cannot function without the support of CLOSAG and the government being a listening government will do well to make them happy.
Mr Oppong used the opportunity to thank the national executives of CLOGSAG for containing the situation when the SSSS had not been paid and that the government would show enough commitment to migrate all members of CLOGSAG by the end of the year.
Mr Oppong advised them to work harder than before and eschew laziness, absenteeism, drunkenness and working lotto in office.
