BECE candidates to sign agreement

Nana Kofi Mbeah, the Sekondi-Takoradi Metropolitan Director of Education, has said all Junior High School students in the Metropolis are expected to sign an agreement after registering for the Basic Education Certificate Examinations (BECE).

He said this measure is to ensure that BECE candidates in the metropolis avoid truancy and improve the BECE results for schools in the metropolis.

Nana Mbeah said the field officers of the education directorate had intensified visits to schools to monitor the BECE candidates.

He said some of the terms and conditions set out in the contract include the fact that all BECE candidates must observe the school’s regulations without any reservation, participate actively in all school activities and perform all class exercises.

Others are, no candidate must leave school compound to town or any place without seeking the requisite permission and must be punctual and regular at school.

Nana Mbeah said any candidate that breaks the contract would have his or her candidature withdrawn.

He said parents and guardians of the candidates would witness the signing of the agreement.
