Clean-up exercise in Accra Metropolis on November 12

The Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development is to embark on clean-up exercise within Accra Metropolitan Area on Saturday, November 12, 0600 hours to 1200 hours.

A statement signed by Nana Oduro Kwateng, Chief Director of the Ministry, copied GNA  in Accra on Thursday, said as a result, all markets and lorry parks would remain closed duration the exercise.

It said there was the need to urgently address serious environmental and public health hazards issues as a result of the recent floods that hit the metropolis.

The statement said all Sub-Metropolitan Assemblies were required to strictly enforce the directive to make the exercise successful.

It said the exercise would involve key collaborators like the Greater Accra Regional Coordinating Council, security agencies, waste management contractors, youth organisations, Ghana Private Road Transport Union, community groups, civil society organisations, women’s groups, traditional authorities, market women associations, the public, media as well as environmental and sanitation groups.
