Ghana Swimming Federation gets new officers

Theophilus Wilson Edzie, a journalist with the Ghana Broadcasting Corporation (GBC) has been elected President of the Ghana Swimming Federation (GSF) for a four year term of office.

At a Congress, convened by Ibrahim Issah, ex-president of (GSF) held at the headquarters of the Ghana Olympic Committee (GOC), the delegates also elected Kojo Adu-Asare, MP for Adentan Constituency as the 1st Vice President, with Mrs Marguerita Accad of the Tesano Sports Club as the 2nd Vice President.

Muniru Kassim was given the nod as the General Secretary with Mrs Helena Williams of University of Ghana as the Treasurer.

Four other delegates made up of Kweku Sam Brew, Eric Kornor, Richard Nii Ahene Koomson and Ibrahim Wallee were elected Executive members.

Chief Olatokunbo Thomas, FINA Bureau Member and Chairman of the FINA
Legal Commission supervised the constitutional electoral process on behalf of the International Federation.

The GSF has over the past years’ been engaged in a feud following the existence of two factions claiming ownership of the Association.

The elections, supervised by officials of the international body and the ex-president of GSF seem to have brought an end to the impasse that rocked the fronts of the Federation.
