KMA to improve infrastructure development

Mr Samuel Sarpong, Kumasi Metropolitan Chief Executive (MCE), has pledged the assembly’s resolve to step up infrastructure development to promote the steady economic growth of the metropolis.

In line with this, it has increased its commitment towards income-generation activities, as well as judicious use of resources and effective supervision of projects.

Mr Sarpong was inaugurating a number of development projects implemented through the District Development Fund (DDF) in Kumasi.

These included a six-unit classroom block for the Nyankyerenease Anglican Basic School, a public health unit at the KMA Clinic, male and female wards at the Suntreso hospital and library block at the Kumasi Girls Senior High School (SHS).

The others are, mechanized water system at Osei Kyeretwie SHS, six-classroom block at Old-Tafo Basic School and three- unit classroom block at Oforikrom M/A Junior High School (JHS).

The MCE said since 2009, the assembly had embarked on numerous projects in the areas of education, health, youth employment, sanitation and security, to make life better for the people.

He appealed to the beneficiary communities to take good care of the facilities and ensure that they were regularly maintained.

Mr Sarpong invited all residents to accept to do their bit to support the socio-economic development of the metropolis.

Oheneba Adusei Poku, the Akyempimhene, advised the people to be law abiding and help restore Kumasi to its past glory, as the Garden City of West Africa.
