Peace is not only absence of war – Clergy

The General Secretary of the Apostolic Church of Ghana, Apostle Ofori Kuragu has said that peace was not merely the absence of war but how a nation dedicated herself to God.

Apostle Kuragu, who is also the Adabraka Area Superintendent of the Apostolic Church of Ghana made the assertion at the end of a week-long revival held by the Achimota District of the church last Sunday.

Speaking on the theme: “Provision of His Divine Peace”, Apostle Kuragu called on Christians to make peace their priority, adding that; “we must position and locate ourselves at the feet of God and also make God first in our lives.”

Pastor Samuel Sefa Agyepong of the Achimota Apostolic Church, briefing newsmen, said the revival was aimed at equipping and rekindling the spirit of Christians towards a Godly life and to renew their commitment to God.

He urged Christians to always study the Bible, to avoid being deceived by false pastors and prophets and called on the government to formulate a dress code policy, especially for women to control the indecent dressing that is creeping into the society.

He also used the occasion to advise politicians to avoid insults whilst on platforms and to endeavour to protect the peace and freedom of the citizenry.

Touching on continental politics, the District Pastor advised African leaders to avoid power drunkenness to avoid chaotic situations, which retard development and progress.

Pastor Agyepong said as part of the Achimota Church social responsibilities, it has donated items to the needy, such as orphanages and visited patients at hospital in Accra and other places.

The occasion was also used to honour Pastor Samuel Kwame Frimpong, who has served the church for 17 years as a secretary and has now been appointed as the new District Pastor for Nsakina, near Amasaman, in the Ga West Municipality of the Greater Accra region.

Other speakers at the function included Prophetess Elizabeth Sarpong, Women Secretary of the Taifa Assembly of the Church.
