Ghanaian elected member of Badminton Confederation of Africa

Secretary General of the Badminton Association of Ghana, Ignatius Elletey has been elected as a Council Member for the Badminton Confederation of Africa.

Elletey was elected at the Annual General Meeting of the continental body held on May 6, 2011 in Marrakech, Morocco.

A statement signed by Raj Gaya, Secretary General of the Badminton Confederation of Africa copied to GNA Sports in Accra, said Elletey and the newly elected executives will serve till 2013.

The Badminton Association of Ghana scribe and Nigerian Kabir Badamasuiy (Deputy President) are the only West Africans in the 15-member council of the continental badminton controlling body.

Others elected are Mrs Dagmawit Girmay (Ethiopia) – President, Raj Gaya (Mauritius) – Secretary General, Peter Gacheru (Kenya) – Treasurer, Omar Bellali (Morocco) – Vice President, Region I; Jean Paul Belinga (Cameroon) – Vice President, Region II, Godfrey Masuwa (Zambia) – Vice President, Region III and Simon Mugabi (Uganda) – Vice President, Region IV.

The rest of the members are Michel Bau (Seychelles), Dr Ali Hasaballah (Egypt), Desire Hatungimana (Burundi), Hamilton Mphinyane (Botswana), Messoud Zobiri (Algeria) and Mrs Chupo Zumburani (Zimbabwe).
