Women asked to harness potentials for development

The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Ghana Chamber of Mines, Reverend Dr Joyce Aryee, has called on women in the country to harness their potentials to enable them to effectively contribute to national development.

She asked women not to consider themselves as inferior to men but to be bold and contribute to decision making, especially on issues that concern their welfare and development.

Rev. Dr Aryee made the call at the opening of a five-day conference on the theme: “Woman, Thou Art Loosed”, organized by the Peace Chapel International at Abeka-Lapaz, Accra, for more than 500 women from various parts of the country.

She said that by his death, Jesus Christ has released women from the bondage of servitude and advised them to believe in the word of God to enable them to receive eternal liberty.

The National President of the Women Ministry of the church, Mrs Theresah Adofo, expressed worry that women have been relegated to the background.

She said the conference sought to encourage women to rise up and participate fully in the affairs of the church and the nation.

Mrs.  Adofo called on society to give women their right place in society to enable them to contribute meaningfully to the growth of humanity.
