Trader accuses insurance company of failing to pay claim

A trader has accused the CDH Insurance Company of deliberately delaying the processing and payment of claims she put in.

Madam Sally A. Addison, trader and owner of a toyota pick-up, told the GNA that her vehicle was involved in an accident on November 3, 2009 at Anto on the main Takoradi-Cape Coast highway.

She said a Police report was issued on the accident on April 2010 but the Management of the Company had delayed in paying the insurance claim.

Madam Addison said the Company abandoned the vehicle and used several excuses to stall the payment of her claim.

She said the delay in paying the claim had led to the loss of sales and this was having a negative impact on her business.

Madam Addision appealed to insurance companies not to unduly delay paying claims because this would drive away prospective customers.

When an official at the Takoradi branch of the Insurance Company was contacted by the GNA, he declined to comment.
