Employee of Gbi Rural Bank remanded for stealing

Daniel Kodzo Ahorku, an employee of the Gbi Rural Bank, Hohoe, has been remanded into custody by a Hohoe Magistrate court for stealing an amount of GH¢5,973 belonging to his employers.

Ahorku, pleaded guilty to the crime, and is expected to reappear in court on November 25.

Assistant Superintendent of Police, Mr Benjamin Dadzie, in prosecuting told the court presided over by Mr Stanislaus Amanopoi that Ahorku failed to account for the sums of “Susu” collections from clients in the Kadjebi District.

He said, Mr Stephen Bedu, a Supervising Manager of the Bank detected the anomaly when clients of the bank reported to collect the interest on their contributions.

ASP Dadzie said the board and management of the bank summoned Ahorku but he could not refund the amounts he collected from the clients.

He said the incident was later reported to the Police, who after investigation arrested Ahorku.
