Kwaebibirem Assembly to prosecute rate defaulters

The Kwaebibirem District Assembly is bent on collecting all revenues due it and to prosecute rate defaulters.

Therefore, the assembly has launched an education campaign to sensitize the people on the need to pay revenue to the assembly.

Mr George Agyemang Duah, the District Chief Executive, said this at an ordinary meeting of the forth session of the fifth assembly at Kade on Monday.

He said revenue mobilization was the key to the success of every assembly adding that without funds plans and programmes designed to better the lives of the people would be a mirage.

Mr Duah informed the assembly that the assembly’s 2010 fee-fixing resolution had been given legal backing (gazette) and property rate as well as rent had been reviewed upwards.

The Assembly as at June 30 generated GH¢ 225,645.58 from local sources, representing 48.38 percent of the total approved budget of GH¢ 466,310.

With regard to the District Assembly’s Common Fund, Mr Duah said the assembly had so far received its share of the first quarter.

The total amount allocated to the district is GH¢ 192,341.17.
