Police arrest six suspects over warehouse robberies

The Tema Regional Police Command has arrested six suspects in connection with two separate robbery incidents involving the theft of fertilisers and food products from warehouses at Kpone and Tema Community One in May and June 2026, respectively.

The suspects are Akala Kudus, Shaibu Dauda, Abdul Rahman Moro, Giya Hudu, Razak Seidu, and Francis Ayinsabga.

A press release issued by Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Dede Dzakpasu, Head of Public Affairs of the Command, and copied to the Ghana News Agency on Thursday, said investigations established that on May 25, a group of armed men attacked a security guard at a fertiliser warehouse at Kpone.

They stole 751 bags of 50-kilogramme organic fertiliser valued at GH¢431,825.00.

In a separate incident on June 14, another group of armed robbers overpowered security guards at Mummy’s Recipe Warehouse in Tema Community One and made away with about 2,000 bags of Aaba Rice and other food products.

The release said intelligence-led operations and sustained investigations enabled the police to trace the stolen items to warehouses within the Tema enclave and identify persons suspected to be connected to both robberies.

It said coordinated police operations conducted on June 16 led to the arrest of the six suspects.

During the operations, the police recovered 717 bags of Aaba Rice stolen from Mummy’s Recipe Warehouse and 600 bags of fertiliser stolen from the Kpone warehouse.

The recovered items have since been secured as exhibits, the release said.

The suspects are currently in police custody assisting with investigations.

The release said efforts were ongoing to identify and arrest other accomplices, recover the remaining stolen items, and bring all persons involved to justice.

It urged the public and businesses to invest in adequate security measures and promptly report suspicious activities to help prevent crime and protect lives and property.
