Final Year GSTS student fake his kidnap

One master Kwofie, a final year student of the Ghana Secondary Technical School (GSTS) is in the grips of the Western Regional Police Command for faking his kidnap.

The student is alleged to have planned the act with three of his friends to demand an amount of GH¢9000 from his parents, which the group intended to trade for more monies.

Sources told the Ghana News Agency that the boy in question together with his colleagues secured a new sim card and placed a call to the parents indicating that he had been kidnapped and that his kidnappers were demanding the said amount before his release.

The source said immediately, the parents conferred with the school authorities whom upon a roll call realised his absence from the school.

A complaint was quickly made to the Takoradi District Police Station who traced the communication link to Tadisco Down area around Anaji.

Two of the students, noticing the presence of the police took to their heels, but luck however eluded one of them who was arrested and confirmed the whole ploy to the Police.

Meanwhile, School authorities confirmed the incident when the  Ghana News Agency visited the premises of the GSTS to ascertain the reality of the story.
