Unemployed man remanded for stealing laptop valued at GH¢2000

A 20 year-old man is on trial at the Enchi District Magistrate court for stealing a Lenovo laptop valued GH¢2,000.

Harry Kwesi Adoko, unemployed and a resident of Adukrom, a suburb of Dadieso, pleaded not guilty to the charge of stealing.

The accused has been remanded into police custody to reappear on January, 4th 2019.

Prosecuting, Detective Sergeant Joseph Kwadwo Agyare said the complainant, Richard Mensah is a car washing bay attendant and resides at Saint Paul’s, a suburb of Dadieso.

He said for some time now there have been a number of thefts in the complainant’s house where the accused used to live as a tenant.

Detective Agyare said the complainant suspected Adoko and confronted him severally but he denied any knowledge of the crimes.

He said in the month of October, 2018, the complainant went to work and forgot to lock his door.

The Prosecution said Adoko took advantage of the complainant’s absence, entered his room and stole his Lenovo laptop valued GH¢2,000.

Mr Agyare said when the complainant returned from work, he noticed that his laptop was missing and begun his own investigations.

He said the complainant later detected that Adoko had entered his room while he was away and stolen his laptop, and had given it to one Rexford Takyi, a witness in the case for safe keeping.

Detective Agyare said Takyi informed the complainant about the theft and a report was made to the police which led to the arrest of Adoko.
