President cautions against acts of disloyalty and subversion

The Regional Ministers

President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has cautioned deputy regional ministers against acts of disloyalty and urged them to team up with their superiors to advance the interest of the government.

He warned that “subversion won’t be countenanced”, saying he expected them to continue to be loyal to him as well as to his appointed ministers, as they all work to achieve the pledges made to Ghanaians as contained in the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) manifesto.

“I will not countenance any acts of disloyalty or subversion of your Minister, for I will take such an act as disloyalty to me, and, by inference, disloyalty to the Party and the State. Any Deputy, who thinks the route to advancement lies in your ability to subvert or undermine your Minister, will be sadly mistaken. You will not profit from that conduct,” he said.

President Akufo-Addo gave the warning on Tuesday when he swore into office the 10 deputy regional ministers approved by Parliament at the Flagstaff House in Accra.

He was emphatic that the success of their work depended solely on their unalloyed loyalty and devotion to team work, urging them “to work with your Minister in all sincerity and transparency. That is the guarantee of your success, and our collective success.”

The President said the deputy regional ministers were “carefully chosen for their positions” and that he was “confident that the various backgrounds and experiences of all of you will bring value to the governance of our nation, and enable us also to deliver on the commitments of our manifesto, the sacred compact that ties us in the NPP to the Ghanaian people.”

The President who disclosed that 36 of his central government ministers had declared their assets in consonance with the dictates of the Constitution, urged the deputy regional Ministers to speedily declare their assets.

“We must jealously guard the commitment we have made to the Ghanaians that we have come to do public service, not advance our own personal fortunes. As you know, I am complying with the requirement in our manifesto to notify the Auditor General of the names of all Article 71 office holders, such as yourselves, of your appointment,” he said.

He thanked the Speaker and members of Parliament for expeditiously approving his ministerial nominees, saying that their efforts would enhance the welfare of the country.

The Deputy Regional Ministers are; Mr Amidu Ishaq for  Upper West,  Frank Fuseini for Upper East,  Solomon Namlit Boar for Northern , Evans Opoku Bobie for  Brong Ahafo,  Elizabeth Agyemang for Ashanti, Joseph Tetteh for  Eastern,  Eugenia Kusi for Western, Thomas Adjei for Central, Maxwell Blagogee for Volta and Elisabeth Sackey, Greater Accra.

Mrs Eugenia Kusi who spoke on behalf of her colleagues, was grateful for the opportunity given them to serve the nation, pledging to give off their best to justify the confidence reposed in them.
