Assembly takes over abandoned school project

The Asante-Akim Central Municipal Assembly, has pledged support towards the completion of an abandoned school project at Anunso, a predominantly farming.

The classroom block was started in 2007 by the people through self-help but its construction stalled because of funding.

The intervention of the assembly is a direct response to appeal by the assembly member, Mr Kofi Amanor.

Alhaji Braimah Boyong, Municipal Chief Executive, who led a team officials’ to inspect the building, said all the needed construction materials required to finish the job had been procured.

He said bags of cement, bundles of roofing sheets, binding wire and boxes of nails would be moved to the project site by Tuesday, January 7, 2014.

Mr Amanor praised the people for their initiative and assured them that apart from completing the school block, the assembly would build a teachers’ bungalow to provide accommodation for teachers posted there.

He urged parents to give priority to the education of their children.

Mr Amanor expressed joy at the assembly’s decision and said the people would provide labour to ensure its early completion.
