Soldiers undertake massive clean-up exercise

SoldiersMilitary personnel of the Northern Command on Thursday undertook a massive clean-up exercise at the South Suntreso Government Hospital, to rid the place of filth, and improve the general environmental sanitation.

For two hours, the soldiers cleared weeds, removed cobwebs, swept and scrubbed floors of the wards.

They later presented to the in-patients a large quantity of fruits – watermelon, orange, pineapple and banana.

Major Michael Adzo, Acting Chief Operations Officer, said it formed part of the new drive towards deepening military/public relations for greater co-operation and good understanding.

It came barely 24 hours to the planned joint route march by soldiers and journalists in Kumasi, under a recently launched initiative to rigorously engage the media to safeguard and protect the nation’s security.

Mr. Gyamfi Yeboah, the Hospital Administrator, commended the military personnel for the exercise, and said it was a good step that would help to halt the breeding of mosquitoes – the vector, that transmits the malaria disease.
