Ada East Assembly rejects DCE nominee

Members of the Ada East District Assembly have once again rejected the president’s nominee, Mr Samuel Bua-Basah for the position of District Chief Executive (DCE).

The 42-year-old nominee polled 22 votes out of 36; representing 61.11 per cent in the first vote cast by the assembly members last Thursday, and in the second round of voting on Monday, he had 19 votes out of 37.

Mr Alex Quam, Ada East District Director of the Electoral Commission, who supervised the second election, said the nominee had failed to meet the mandatory requirement of two-thirds majority, and that, the Assembly had rejected the confirmation of Mr Bua-Basah.

Mr Alexander Poku-Akubia, Greater Accra Regional Director of the Electoral Commission supervised the first election.

Mrs Comfort Doeyo Cudjoe Ghansah, Member of Parliament for Ada and Minister of State, who witnessed the election, was not happy about the development, saying, Ada needs a DCE to rescue the area from under development.
